Widelux Cinemagraph
Here’s a cinemagraph I recently shot, showing the great Widelux panoramic camera in action. Widelux photographer portrayed by Graham Kennedy.
Palm Tree Nimslo Gif
I shot these palm leaves earlier this month with a Nimslo four lens camera.
Michael Bulington
Lincoln Heights, Los Angeles, January 27th, 2015.
David J. Delgado
Last weekend I photographed David Delgado at the Alyce de Roulet Williamson Gallery at Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design, in front of the art installation Refraction, which he created along with Dan Goods. Delgado and Goods also designed these fabulous Exoplanet Travel Posters (illustrated by Joby Harris). You can download very high res versions for printing here).
Cartoonist Elana Pritchard
Here are a few portraits of Elana Pritchard I shot at L.A’s old zoo a couple days ago. I learned about Pritchard after seeing the savagely funny cartoons she drew during a brief incarceration at a Los Angeles County jail. She’s got a Kickstarter for an animated film called The Circus, with 16 days to go.
Skill Barber Shop, Chiang Mai, Thailand
I’ve been missing Chiang Mai lately, where I spent a couple months last winter. Here’s a portrait I shot in February at Skill Barber, just north of the old city.
Magic Hour Portraits at Venice Beach
Last Sunday I went out to shoot at Venice Beach for a photography tutorial project I’m working on (more on that to come). I coerced fellow Chicago expat friends Tamara and J.B. into helping—Tamara modeled and J.B. shot behind-the-scenes video (and thanks to Nathan for assisting). We got lucky with a particularly lovely magic hour sky.
Batman
I was shooting street pictures on Hollywood Boulevard the other night, and saw a set of stairs near the Chinese Theatre that would be good for an aerial view of the tourists I was photographing. Sitting at the top of the stairs I found Batman*, on break, drinking coffee. We had a nice chat.
*I almost referred to him as a Batman impersonator, but then realized that would be redundant; even the great Adam West was an impersonator.
