I photographed protesters at the Women’s March in Downtown Los Angeles yesterday, and it was glorious. Peaceful, joyous, celebratory, energized, inspired.

Last Friday afternoon at the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Boulevard, I found two Spidermen inexplicably frisking a bear. Later, Spiderman sat down for a break.
I recently discovered (via this LA Weekly article), that there’s a world class Ghanaian xylophonist (gyil player to be precise) living in my neighborhood, so naturally I contacted him to see if I could arrange a photo session. His name is SK Kakraba, and he kindly invited me over to his house, where I shot these photos today. Angeleno’s can catch him this Friday performing at the beautiful Getty Museum.
What a pleasure to meet and photograph legendary West Coast artist Ed Moses at his Venice studio; I dropped by a few weeks ago with John Horn, who interviewed Moses for his KPCC-produced public radio show, The Frame. You can listen to the interview—as well as see a bunch more of the photos I shot—at the KPCC site. LACMA is currently exhibiting a retrospective of Moses’s work, up until August 2nd, 2015.
